#3 A Big WHY?

We the people of India, all over the world, why?
May be top International Brands not from India, but majority of human resource working in those big companies are certainly form India why?
It is nothing to surprise that the top level guys in lots of MNCs having Indians on board. Lots of IIT and IIM students making there places in top positions each year all over the world. There is no limit for the talent and brain in India. Today in each field related to any discipline of knowledge Indians have shown there presence. We are nothing but one of the finest race on the planet.
But…….
Despite of all this there is some thing that disturbs me again and again. That’s the importance of VIDESI against DESI. Why being such a great country we always need to look towards west for each of our internal task. We always judge our work and contribution form external eye. There is a big “WHY” to be answered by each of us. Is those western things really matter that to us. I am not talking here about some products or person, things or events. I am worried about the mind set of today’s generation and its effect on next generation. It’s the matter of knowing who we are and what we capable of. From ice-cream to burger, bollywood to entertainment, language to culture and all those things that touching our life seem to be influenced by west. Today pizza and burgers became more sophisticated then any of our traditional food. May be our kids don’t know what “DALIYA” is but definitely need cornflakes and noodles. Mc-Donald and Pizza Hut have more brand value then Aggrawal sweets or Haldiram in our own country. Big ice-cream brand opening outlets in India with advertisement tag of Indians not allowed. Even though they can manage to survive and generate revenue from our country. Ask yourself, that apart from Mother Dairy Ice-Creams how many Indian ice-cream brands you know. Not only one industry or sector but the story is same everywhere. Today we almost forget our traditional ways of entertainments. Who is going to watch “NATAK” or Dramas, may be countable people. Bollywood is the biggest source of entertainment today. It is said to be the face of the society. But dose it doing justice to the saying. Most of the stories are taken from Hollywood movies or some novels here and there and after all claimed to be original. Who can deny that the Oscars are valued more then any Indian award in India itself. Any Hollywood star may even not know what the bollywood is or if they even know then may be two or three names of Bollywood stars but when asked by most of our Bollywood stars there favorite star is from Hollywood. May be other bigger source of daily entertainment are serials. But are they really reflecting Indian face. Most of our realty shows are nothing but the Indian remake of western shows. Big boss to Indian Idol list may go very long. I think a country that teaches the world what philosophy is, lacking good thinkers today. The area that affected the worst is our own language and culture. Today Hindi is living a life of refuge in his own county. A person speaks good English consider to be modern and sorry to say but Hindi is consider to be the rural language. With this we forget our culture too. People are surprise to know the Vedas are the religious books of Hindus. When I asked couple of my friends about our religious books they were saying it is Geta or Puranas not sure. One other field that is under large western influence is our education system. we are still following the same education system that is enforced by British people on us. Indian curriculum not includes its own history in detail rather it will teach us much about others. This is not all it is just a few. I don’t recognize even one area that is not west influenced.
My friends it’s not about using some or the other brand nor speaking any language its only concern about feeling proud on our own stuffs, do we. Use any language to communicate but on top feel proud to speak our own language. Eat whatever you want but never forget our own food. Be the part of any culture and civilization but don’t feel ashamed be from your own origin.
May be this hurts anybodies feelings. But please answer this “WHY” to yourself before it too late.
